Bernell Rhodes, 88, of Somonauk, Illinois passed away Friday, December 3, 2004 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, IL. He was born April 24, 1916 in Bingham, IL, the son of Charlie and Hester (Earle) Rhodes. He married G. Elenore Knutson on November 29, 1935 in Ramsey, IL. He farmed for several years until his retirement. Bernell enjoyed playing cards, his mornings at the coffee shop, and visiting with his numerous friends. He also enjoyed the Sandwich Fair, where he worked for several years. He also enjoyed children and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by one daughter-in-law, Katie (Don) Tellefson of Leland, IL; three grandhchildren, Greg (Marlene) Tellefson of Ottawa, IL, Ginger (Randy) Clason of Danville, IN, and Doug (Jill) Tellefson of Kokomo, IN; six great grandchildren, three sisters, Nellie Riks of Sandwich, IL, Dixie Marvick of Leland, IL and Imogene Walker of Decatur, IL; one brother, Arthur Rhodes of Indianapolis, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Norman Rhodes; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2004 at Turner Funeral Home in Somonauk, Illinois with Pastor Dennis Heaney officiating. Burial will follow in Victor Cemetery, rural Leland, IL. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 5 in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
