Walter Jacob Klumpp, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, June 8, 1991, at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Ron Thompson presiding. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Klumpp was born on Dec. 17, 1899, in Isabella County, to Matthew and Sophia (Essig) Klumpp. He married Vivian Grace Richardson June 1, 1924, in Winn.
He was a lifetime resident of the area. Mr. Klumpp worked as a carpenter and farmer for most of his life, retiring in 1962. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant and a member of the Cedar Valley Masonic Lodge of Winn, where he had served as past master.
He was a life member of the Winn Order of Eastern Stars and had been worthy patron. Mr. Klumpp was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge.
He is survived by three sons, Stan Klumpp and his wife Anna Marie of Mt. Pleasant, Kendall Klumpp of Mt. Pleasant, and Marlin Klumpp and his wife Kathy of Tecumseh; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Tillie Klumpp of Chelsea.
Mr. Klumpp was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Grace Klumpp, on Jan. 20, 1962; one daughter, Shirley McClintic, on April 16, 1990; and 15 brothers and sisters.
