Miriam "Mim" Siegrist Hershey, 55, of 11159 Morning View Drive, Singers Glen, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at her home. She had been ill for the past year.

Mrs. Hershey was born March 2, 1948, in Lancaster, Pa., and was a daughter of the late Jacob B. and Erma Herr Siegrist.

She graduated from Eastern Mennonite College, now Eastern Mennonite University, in 1973. She was the past director of Project Concern and had been employed for over 20 years at the Virginia Employment Commission as a workforce service representative. She was an avid gardener and an active member of the Lindale Mennonite Church , where she served on the Council of Ministries.

On July 13, 1974, she married Irvin L. Hershey, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael Siegrist Hershey of Raleigh, N.C., and Jonathan Siegrist Hershey of Singers Glen; five sisters, Janet Keefer of New Holland, Pa., Joanne Neff of Lancaster, Pa., Martha Rill of Shippensburg, Pa., Lucy Groff of Boyne Falls, Mich., and Mary Haldeman of Reading, Pa.; five brothers, David Siegrist, Boyne Falls, Mich., Daniel Siegrist, Willow Street, Pa., C. Eugene Siegrist, Myerstown, Pa., Clair Siegrist of East Earl, Pa., and Larry Siegrist, Bloomsburg, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pastors Howard Miller, Wayne North and Duane Yoder will conduct a memorial service 3 p.m. Saturday at the Harrisonburg Mennonite Church. A private burial will precede the service.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
