More about CHARLES (KARL) FORSTNER:
Was a painting contractor in San Francisco
Changed last name to FORSTER, but died as FORSTNER

My grandmother, Emily Forster Ritter told me that Charles Forster came to the United States first and John B. Forster came later. They came to California to prospecting, but were not good miners. They lived with the Indians in the Mother Lode and slept in a hammock at night. John kept waking up because he feared being bitten by a snake. They had a cat, but had to cook it for food. They had two dogs and they got rid of them. After their experience, they moved to San Francisco and became painters. John and his brother did not see eye to eye and went into business for themselves.

Charles Forster invested American dollars in Germany.
He lived with his niece Mary McEachern and her son. Robert/Bud in Alameda. Robert was 6 years old.
Charles drank Ex-lax every day

Charles had a chest scar.
He went back to visit in Italy, was arrested and put in jail. Since he was an American citizen he was freed from jail.
Charles is the son of Josef Wilhelm Forstner (1834-1917) and Emily Groft(1800-?). He is one of six known children: John, Charles, Katrina, Ella and two male children. The family also shows his father as Wilhelm as shown on his brother's death certificate.
