Jane Z. Hough, 78, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in Wichita Falls. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Isaac Butterworth officiating. Graveside services will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
A descendant of a pioneer Wichita Falls family, Jane was born on August 19, 1934 in Wichita Falls. During her high school years in Houston, she was a city and state singles champ in tennis. She attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia and the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Jane's lifelong passion for music led to considerable skills on the piano and an active association with the First Presbyterian Church Choir. She was also a member of the Junior League of Wichita Falls, the Wichita Falls Symphony League, the Colony Club, and the Cotillion Club.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Faye(Fisher) and John Warner Zimmer; her aunt, Thelma Ripley; and her aunt and uncle, Virgil and Alice Fisher.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Ronald Hough; her son, Donald Lee Barnhart Jr. and his wife Linda of The Colony, Texas; her son, John Warner Barnhart and his wife Sherri of Wichita Falls; her stepson, Earl Hough of Snellville, Georgia; and four grandchildren, Justin Barnhart and his wife Ashley of Plano, Texas; Megan Barnhart of Wichita Falls; Faye Barnhart of The Colony, Texas; and Donald L. Barnhart III of The Colony, Texas. Surviving cousins include Marion Roever and her husband Dick of Dallas, Texas; Carol Nutt and her husband Milburn of Wichita Falls; Ann Freeman of Austin, Texas; and Tom McLaren of New York City.
The family will receive visitors at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012.
