Cyrilla B. Sudbeck, 90, of St. Benedict, Kansas, died on December 23, 2012 at Life Care Center of Seneca, where she had been a resident since February 2010.

Cyrilla Bertha Sudbeck was born on November 28, 1922 to William and Anna (Blocker) Bergman in St. Benedict. She attended St. Mary's High School graduating with the Class of 1940. As a young girl, she helped on the farm and worked for her parents at their store, Bergman Grocery Store.

She married Clemens Carl Sudbeck on May 15, 1946. The couple lived north of Seneca and raised seven children. Clemens died February 20, 1976. Cyrilla returned to St. Benedict and lived in the house next to where she grew up.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Benedict, a former officer of the Altar Society, a member of the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Guild, Pitch Club, the Nemaha County Historical Society, Nemaha County Council on Aging, and the Fun Loving Club. She loved raising a garden and canning the fruits of her labor, dancing and playing cards. Her favorite place to pray the rosary was at the Grotto in St. Benedict.

She is survived by her seven children, James (Betty) Sudbeck of Bern, Richard (Betty) Sudbeck of Seneca, Kathryn (Richard) Heinen of Wetmore, Kenneth (Ellen) Sudbeck of Seneca, Donald (Nancy) Sudbeck of Seneca, Jeanne (Nick) Holthaus of Baileyville and John (Theresa) Sudbeck of Seneca; a brother, Melvin Bergman of Seneca; and a sister, Rita Wichman of Topeka; 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings Raphaela Haverkamp, Dorothy Huninghake, and Callistus Bergman; and son-in-law, Nick Holthaus.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Wednesday, December 26, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of a Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Thursday, December 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Benedict. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
