She was born on December 9, 1920, the daughter of William and Anna Blocker Bergman. She grew up in the St. Benedict community and graduated from St. Benedict School. She worked in the Bergman store until she married.
Dorothy married Joseph C. Huninghake on September 5, 1945 at St. Mary's Church in St. Benedict. They lived on a farm east of Seneca until 1963, when they moved to Seneca. Joe preceded her in death on May 22, 1981.
Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, gardening, singing in the church and having visitors and being a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Merry Makers Garden Club in Seneca.
She is survived by her children, Connie (Ced) Woodard of Parker, CO, Bill (Linda) Huninghake of Overland Park, KS, Steve (Ruth) Huninghake of Topeka, Brenda Haya of Topeka, Glenda (Lyle) Haverkamp of Topeka, and Tim Huninghake of Seneca; two sisters, Cyrilla Sudbeck of Seneca and Rita Wichman of Topeka; a brother, Melvin Bergman of St. Benedict; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband Joe she was preceded in death by her brother, Callistus Bergman; and a sister, Raphaela Haverkamp.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Friday, April 15, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 AM on Saturday, April 16, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
