She was born June 7, 1921, in Hamel, IL., the daughter of Adolph and Lillian (Reising) Hellmann.
Elsie was born on the family farm and attended St. Paul Lutheran School. She worked at Southwestern Bell as an Operator for 35 years in St. Louis, MO. She moved back to the family farm in 1968 to care for her parents. She moved to Highland Health Care Center in 2005. She enjoyed sewing and loved to garden.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL.
Survivors include Brother-Arnold F. Hellmann of Worden, Ill., Brother-Edwin G. (Nancy) Hellmann of Glen Carbon, Ill., Brother-Carl H. (Marlene) Hellmann of Worden, Ill., Brother-Louis A.
