They farmed a few years in Adarns County before moving to a farm near Wiota in 1935. In 1941 they purchased a farm southeast of Wlota.
He worked for the Dept. of Agriculture for 34 years as a committeeman, their as manager of the ASCS office, retiring in 1974. He served as 4-H leader, Cass County 4-H chairman, and secretary and vice president of Cass County. Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the Cass County Zoning Administration, the Atlantic Elks, and S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Opal Neary in infancy and Jennie Millen and three brothers, Patrick, Walter and Russell Neary.
He is survived by his wife Constance; a son, Merrill Neary and his wife Carole of Council Bluffs; a daughter, Roxanne Schwarz and her husband Edward of Falls Church, Va.; five grandchildren; two great-grandehildren;-and two sisters, Helen Henningsen and Virginia Spiker of Atlantic.
Services were held June 23 at S.S. Peter &; Paul Catholic Church in AtlantIc with the Rev. Bart Kane'officiating. Burial was in the Atlantic Catholic Cernetery.
