Patrick James Neary 31, well known Elliott Ford dealer and a native of Cass co, passed away at midnight last night at 508 Oak St. from complications following a severe illness of diphtheria. He had been critically ill for three weeks.
Mr. Neary was born Jan 29 1904, on a farm south of Cumberland, being a son of Martin R and Emma Neary. He had lived most of his life in the Grant and Elliott communities.
He was graduated from the Atlantic High school in 1922 and on Sept 22 1923 he was united in marriage to Mrs Ethel Bacon of Red Oak.
For the last two years, Mr Neary had been operating the Ford agency at Elliott. He attended the Elliott Methodist Episcopal church.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs Emma Neary of Morton Mills, his wife and two children, Phillip J 5, and Patricia Ann 2. Three brothers, Walter Neary of Nampa, Idaho; Russell Neary of Morton Mills, Kenneth Neary of Cumberland, and two sisters Mrs Virginia Neary of Grant, and Mrs E C Henningsen of Atlantic. One sister, Opal, died in infancy and another sister, Mrs Jessie Miller passed away on Feb 27, 1927.
Short funeral services will be held at 3 oclock tomorrow afternoon at the graveside of the Grant cemetery. The Rev A Breeling, pastor of the Lewis Methodist church, will have charge of the rites. The body will remain at the Roland Peacock & Baxter funeral home until the funeral hour.
Friends have received word of the death of Howard Hepler of Mt. Vernon, Washington on Friday, June 28, 1949 from pneumonia. His body is being returned for burial at Grant Cemetery.
