Celeste Reid Carter, age 70, of Gulfport died Thursday, December 27, 2007 in Gulfport. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 5, 2008, from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. at Bayou View Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements and a guestbook may be signed at www.riemannfamily.com.

***Mrs. Carter attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida, and Auburn University where she met her future husband, James Carter. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She reared three children and, after a successful career on print ad sales, she enjoyed working with parents and students at Harrison County Child Development Center. Mrs. Carter loved her church, Bayou View Baptist Church, and was active in the Can Do Sunday school class.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents, Urr and Gladys Reid; a son, James Taylor Carter; and her mother-in-law, Vera Carter.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James "Jim" Rufus Carter of Gulfport; her children, Jon Reid Carter of Gulfport, and Jennie Carter Grammer (Kurt) of Northport, Alabama; her sister, Georgia Edmiston of Mary Ester, Florida, and her friend Cathy Little; her grandchildren, Jon-Taylor Grammer and Conrad Grammer; her sisters-in-law, Jane McMullen of Huntsville, Alabama, and Lynn Young (Jerry) of Gulfport; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
