Esther Lubben, age 94 of forest City, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral service was held Monday, December 4 at First Baptist Church in Forest City with Rev. Larry Kidwell offici­ating. Burial was at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center. Visitation was held one hour prior to service at the church. Petersen Lund Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Esther (Hass) Lubben was born on October 26, 1912, the daughter of Ferdinand and Lena (Schmidt) Hass in George, Iowa. She attended school there and graduated in 1931. At the age of 14 she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized and became a member of the Central Baptist
Church.
On February 4, 1937, she was united in marriage to Leonard L. Lubben of Buffalo Center, Iowa. The couple lived at Rake and Buffalo Center before moving to Luverne, Minnesota in 1946. While there Esther was active in church teaching in Sunday school and Bible school. She worked also at Renfro's Variety & Gift Shop for 28 years. In 1976 the couple returned to Buffalo Center and moved to Forest City in 1984. Leonard passed away in 1986. Esther was a member of the First Baptist Church in Forest City. She was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing trips with Leonard.
Esther is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as two sisters-in-law, who were a blessing in her life: Arlene Ostercamp of Titonka, Iowa and Lydia Gruis of Waukon, Iowa.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, a sister, Minnie Winkleman and brothers Fred and Bill Hass.
