Lorraine Rausch-Ippolito (1916 - 2013)

Lorraine Rausch-Ippolito, 97

Little Falls

Jan. 3, 1916 ~ Jan. 19, 2013

Lorraine Rausch-Ippolito, 97-year-old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away January 19, 2013 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, MN.

A prayer service will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the St. Francis Convent in Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 1-2 P.M. on Thursday at St. Francis Convent. A funeral mass and burial service will take place at a later date in Rapid City, SD. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN.

Lorraine was born to Val and Katherine (Holthaus) Rausch on January 3, 1916 in Watkins, Minnesota. Later, she moved with the family to Melrose, MN and attended Melrose grade and high schools there. In 1932, the family moved to Ortonville, MN and within the year moved to Big Stone City, SD where Lorraine completed her high school. After attending St. Cloud Business College, she worked as a warehouse clerk in Seattle, WA. Moving on to Los Angeles, CA, she met and later married Leon Joseph Ippolito on January 31, 1945. While living in West Sacramento, CA, her husband died in 2003 and Lorraine moved to Little Falls that year. Lorraine enjoyed life and was an enthusiastic person to the full. She was well liked by neighbors and friends, and kept close contact with family. She had a smile for all, especially children, and always was ready with a great joke to tell. She had a heart for her family, liked to cook, play cards, read good books, and work on puzzles in these later years. She waited eagerly to pass on in order to visit with so many family and friends who entered God's kingdom years before her!

Lorraine is survived by her brothers, Herman (Jane) of Rapid City, SD, Jerome (Shanti) of Big Stone City, SD; sisters, Rose Mae, O.S.F., Antonia, O.S.F., and Josephine (George Vania) of Stillwater, MN; sisters-in-law, Dottie (Norbert) of Hopkins, MN and Harriet (Eugene) of Big Stone City, SD; as well as nephews, nieces and grands.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her brothers, Norbert, Ervin, O.S.C., Severin, Florentine, Armand and Eugene; her sister, Elizabeth Ann, and her parents, Val and Katherine (Holthaus) Rausch.
