Florentine Anthony Rausch, passed away on November 6, 2011 in Little Falls, MN. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the St. Charles Cemetery in Big Stone City, SD. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN.

Florentine was born on September 26, 1921 in Watkins, MN to the late Val & Katherine (Holthaus) Rausch.

Flory served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as an airplane and engine mechanic in the Pacific Theater on the island of Guam. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 10, 1946 and received the Good Conduct Medal. He was a staff sergeant by the end of his service.

Flory obtained an electrical engineering degree from Michigan Tech. He helped to design the B-52 bomber at Boeing in Seattle and later helped to design the nuclear submarines, the Sea Wolf and the Nautilus. Toward the end of his life he served as security guard at Jones Boat Yard on the Miami River.

Flory enjoyed following the national and international news of the day, always asking questions and conversing about the news with whomever came to visit. He was as extensive reader, wrote up his thoughts, and sent Letters to the Editor to be of help to people. Flory was always pleasant and welcoming to family and friends. Baseball and music were his favorite pastimes.

Florentine "Flory" is survived by his brothers, Herman (Jane), Jerome (Shanti), Paul (Liane); sisters, Lorraine Ippolito, Rose Mae O.S.F, Antonia O.S.F, Josephine (George) Vania; sisters-in-law, Dottie (Nitz) Rausch and Harriet (Roggenbuck) Rausch; and many nieces and nephews.

Flory is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norbert, Ervin O.S.C, Severin, Eugene, and Armand; sister, Elizabeth Ann.
