She spent her youth and grew to womanhood in Illinois, becoming united in marriage to Mr. George L. Erbes in 1876. Some 20 years ago the family came to Iowa, residing in Clay county at first, after which they made their home in Hartley.
It was here that the departed was called to rest on Wednesday forenoon, July 21st at 11:00 a. m. after a lingering illness of several years. She had attained the age of '65 years, 2 months and 19 days.
Mrs. Erbes is survived by her husband, Mr. George L. Erbes,-five sons Carl Erbes of Everly, Will, Lewis, Frank and Clarence of Hartley, two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones of Indianola, la., Miss Florence Erbes and twelve grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her four brothers Charles Hackman, Lewis Hackman and William Hackman of Paw Paw, Ill., George Hackman of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and two sisters, Mrs. Millie Fonda and Mrs. Mina Prasse of Council Bluffs, Ia.
Funeral services were conducted at Trinity Evangelistic church Friday afternoon, July 23rd. Rev. Albrecht officiating. Among those present to pay. their respects to the memory of the departed were Mrs Katherine Green of Brookings, S. D. and M. Wm. Erbes of Wheaton, Minn.
