Joseph BADER born on the 26th January 1860 in Paris, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia was the son of Christian BADER and Maria SEEFRIED.

Joseph married Louisa TRAUTWEIN on the 30th of December 1881 in Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia. This union was blessed with no less than 10 children; Emanuel, Julianna, Benjamin, Lydia, Emilie, Louisa, Reinhold, Bertha, Katherine and Emma.

Sailing aboard the SS "Scandia" Jas BADER with his wife Louisa and their children; Emanuel, Benjamin, Emilie and Louisa, left the Port of Hamburg, Germany in mid April of 1894 and arrived at Ellis Island, New York on the 30th of April 1894.

Family records revealed that the BADER Family spent their first winter at Menno, Hutchinson County, South Dakota with his sister, Wilhelmina QUAST prior to taking on a homestead in Spring Valley Township, Dickey County, North Dakota.
