Inge Szalek, 75, beloved wife of 54 years to Hermann Szalek of Seymour, entered into eternal rest on Feb. 27, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 22, 1937 in Duisburg, Hamborn, Germany and was the daughter of the late Ernst and Agnes (Sikora) Arndt.

Mrs. Szalek was an apprentice in shoe design and also worked at Uniroyal in Naugatuck before her retirement.

She was an excellent gardener and was known for her beautiful flower gardens. She also enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, bass fishing and bowling.

In addition to her devoted husband, Mrs. Szalek leaves four children, Liane Litke of Ansonia, Monika Szalek-Pindel of Bridgeport, Linda Racine of Naugatuck and Heidi Meholik of Seymour, five grandchildren, David and Kristen Litke, Charles and Jason Baldino and Angelica Racine and six great grandchildren.

Her brother, Ernst Arndt, Jr. predeceased her.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Mar. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment in Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour (Springtime). Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
