Carol June Meisner Benzel, 70, of Gering, Scotts Bluff Co, Nebraska, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family. Carol June Meisner Benzel was born June 27, 1935, in Gering to Herman and Emilie (Haun) Meisner. She attended the Sunflower School, the Lake Alice School, and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1953. She worked at the Farmer's Union Exchange. Carol married Arthur Benzel on June 12, 1955, in Scottsbluff. She was employed with L.B. Murphy Co., Gilman's Motors, Gering Public Schools, Dial Net, retiring from Hegwood Home Builders. Carol was a member of the Gering Zion Church and the Lake Alice Happy Hour Club. She was on several bowling leagues and participated in card clubs. She enjoyed watching her granddaughter play softball and was an excellent cook. Carol had a great sense of humor and loved telling jokes. Carol and Art celebrated their 50th Anniversary in June. She was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all.

Mrs. Benzel, 70, of Gering, Scotts Bluff Co, Nebraska, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman. Survivors include her husband Art; daughter, Jana Schanaman; granddaughter, Lindsey Kramer all of Gering; mother, Emilie Meisner of Scottsbluff and brother Randy (Lana) Meisner of Studio City, California.

The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Gering Zion Church with Pastor Paul Hebbert officiating. Interment was at West Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Prairie Haven Hospice or to the church.

Gering Memorial Chapel & Cremation Services were in charge of arrangements.
