Emilie Haun Meisner was born May 6, 1911, on a ship coming from Germany to the United States, the daughter of George and Dorothy Haun. She married Herman Meisner on March 15, 1933. They farmed in the area near Lake Alice, Scotts Bluff Co, Nebraska for many years. Emilie was a member of Emmanuel Congregational Church at Scottsbluff and the Happy Hour Club at Lake Alice. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing cards and board games.

Mrs. Meisner, 99, of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 16, at Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor John Adams officiating. Interment followed at the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. A memorial has been established to The Festival of Hope (in honor of her daughter).

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herman, daughter Carol Benzel, and sisters Elizabeth, Mollie, and Alice. Survivors include her son, Randy (Lana) Meisner of Studio City, Los Angeles Co., CA; son-in-law, Art Benzel of Gering; grandchildren, Jana (Steve) Richter of Gering; Dana (Lana) Meisner of Torrington, Goshen Co., Wyoming; Heather Leigh of Scottsbluff; and Eric (Stacey) Meisner of Scottsbluff; six great-grancdchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; and sister, Lydia Ohlund of Wisconsin.
