AGED FATHER PASSED AWAY
Lars Hansen, Father of Eight Children Dies of Old Age at the Home of His Daughter

For a few weeks past Lars Hansen, one of our early settlers and most respected citizens, has been slowly failing in strength due to his old age. His children gave him all the help possible, but he had run his course and strength gave way. Death came to him Sunday when he was 83 years, 6 months and 16 days old.

He was born in Denmark on July 27, 1832, and on July 29, 1859, was married to Miss Maren Olsen. To this union eight children were born, all of whom are living.

In 1889 Mr. and Mrs. Hansen moved to America with their family and settled at first in Mira Valley and later moved to Springdale.

Two years ago his aged wife passed away, since which time he has lived with some of his children. He was at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Pete Hansen when he died.

The deceased was an industrious man and a most excellent citizen and left to the country of his adoption a priceless legacy in a large family of thrifty and prosperous children.

He leaves three surviving sisters in Denmark and his family of six sons and two daughters. These are O.R. Hansen, Jack Hansen, Mrs. Christina Christensen, Mrs. Tillie Jensen, Martin Hansen, J.B. Hansen, S.V. Hansen and Edward Hansen, all of whom live in Valley county except Martin, who lives in Walla Walla, Wash.

The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church yesterday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. C. Sorensen and Rev. R. L. Purdy.
