Osvaldo Da Rin Perette was born 6 Sep 1881 in Laggio Di Cadore, Italy. According to his death record (Illinois, Deaths and Stillbirths Index, 1916-1947), Oscar Darin* was a 50 year old hod carrier at the time of his death in 1930. He died on 2 December in Chicago Heights and was buried on 4 December 1930 in "Oak Lawn" cemetery, now Homewood Memorial Gardens. His wife was listed as Antonia Darin, his father as Anton Darin and his mother as Josephine Rissotto. (Oscar's parents, also born in Laggio Di Cadore, Italy, were listed on the birth certs as Basillio Antonio DaRin Perette and Maria Giovanna Da Rin Rizzotto.)

Immigration records show his arrival on February 23, 1909 in NY, age 27 (b. 1881), married miner, left father Antonio Darin in Laggio Cadore, destination Chicago. In 1912 a Oscar Darin boarded at 229 Harrington in Detroit, MI. Also boarding at that address were John, John Jr. and Emil Darin. (Might not be this Oscar). The 1921 Joliet City Directory shows Oscar boarding with brother Joseph in Joliet.

On 21 September 1928, the Chicago Heights Star reported that "Oscar Darin Parette" would go before the court in Chicago Heights next Thursday for examination and naturalization. "Oscar De Rin Perette", b. 6 September 1881, of 58 E. 23rd Street, Chicago Heights, was naturalized 27 September 1928 in Chicago Heights, Cook Co., IL. He self reported this birth date, which matches the one on his birth cert. (The date on the death record is incorrect).

* Oscar Darin was also known as Oswaldo Darin, or Osvaldo Da Rin Perette. Family recalls him as the brother of Guiseppe Darin Perette of Joliet, IL. Brother Joseph seemed to report different parent names, but actually they each used different shortened names. The brothers were born in Laggio to parents living at the same address. Oscar was said to have sent his wife and daughters back to Italy.
