Ambrose R Klaus, 84, of Sun City

Gazette, The (Cedar Rapids-Iowa City, IA) — Tuesday, June 24, 2003 84, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Marion, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Del Webb Hospital, Sun City, following a heart attack complicated by Parkinson's disease. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Jochiam & St. Anne Catholic Church, Sun City. Burial: Sunland Memorial Cemetery, Sun City. Arrangements with Menke Funeral Home, Sun City.

Survivors include his four sons and their wives, Jerry and Lee of Sun City, Ariz., Bob and Patti of Cedar Rapids, Dave and Barb of Wildwood, Mo., and Tony and Joann of Salem, Ore.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
His beloved wife, Hilda; his parents, seven sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Born Oct. 8, 1918, in New Vienna, Iowa, the son of Antone and Bernadina Klaus, he married Hilda Digman on Oct. 21, 1941, in Edgewood. They began farming and, in 1952, settled in Marion to raise their four sons. They were faithful members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

In 1981, he retired from Wilson Foods and moved to Sun City, where he became active in volunteer work: Sun City Posse, Red Cross truck driver, St. Vincent de Paul kitchen and numerous others. He was an active member of Knights of Columbus.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ambrose will always be remembered for his generosity of heart and quick sense of humor. We will miss you.
