He was born September 20, 1933 the son of Walter T. and Benita Reavy Scharfenberg.
He is survived by two aunts, Sister Benita Reavy of Rock Island, Ill. and Helen Peters of Galesburg, his sister-in-law, Martha Scharfenberg of Maquon, Ill., his nephews, Dave (Andrea), Steve (Fran), Dan and Chuck Scharfenberg and his niece, Amy (Randy) Ems. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Walter T. "Ted" Scharfenberg, two aunts, Mary Elizabeth Metz and Virginia Stegall and a niece, Katie Utzinger.
Bob graduated from Corpus Christi Catholic School in 1951. He graduated from Knox College in 1955, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He also attended the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He was drafted in to the US Army serving at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colo. After returning from the service he worked for an advertising company in New York City.
Bob moved to the Pocono Mountains, Pa. There he owned and operated a store called Generations, selling blue jeans and records in Mt. Pocono, Pa. Bob enjoyed music and art and really had a great sense of humor.
Private family graveside services will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacon Robert Wood will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been accorded. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
