HIGH POINT -Mrs. Beatrice Wilkes Huber, 95, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at the Presbyterian Home in High Point.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday in Sechrest Chapel by the Reverend Richard Howle. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Huber was born in Red Springs on June 4, 1911, a daughter to John Arthur and Annabelle Fields Wilkes. She had been a resident of Greensboro and High Point most of her life.
Mrs. Huber was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Peacock Bible Class. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Friendly Club, and the High Point Lady Lions Club. Mrs. Huber was married twice, first to J. D. (Dock) Huggins who died August 12, 1969 and then to Walter C. Huber on September 7, 1973. Mr. Huber died December 15, 1987. Although Mrs. Huber had no children of her own, she readily accepted her new family upon her second marriage, and was a loving and caring step-mother, step-grandmother and step-great-grandmother.
Surviving are two step-sons, Dr. Donald S. Huber and wife, Mary of Huntsville, Alabama and Ronald L. Huber and wife, Jane of Greensboro; six step-grandchildren and eleven step-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at Sechrest Funeral Service.
