Ronald Ardell Lerch, 74, of Clarion, formerly of Curllsville, died at 11 p.m. Turesday, July 22, 1997, at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Piney Township. He had resided at the nursing home for the past year.
Born September 5, 1922, in Piney Township, he was the son of Leslie and Grace (Myers) Lerch.
He married the former Alda Jane Shook on June 9, 1950. She survives.
Mr. Lerch retired from Commodore Homes in Shippenville RR1 with 27 years of service. He served with the U. S. Army 475th Battalion in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Lerch was a member of the Reidsburg Bible Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Murphy Grange near Sligo.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard Lerch of Sligo; two daughters, Mrs. Audley (Denise) Bartley of St. Petersburg, and Mrs. Van (Robin) Kriebel of Parker, RR1; a granddaughter, Michelle Kriebel; six grandsons, Stephen Krieble, Jr., Richard Lerch, Jr., Ryan Lerch and Matthew, Brian and Cory Kriebel; and two stepgrandsons, Amos and Matthew Bartley. He is also survived by a brother, Eldean "Ame" Lerch of Sligo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lyle Lerch, William "Boob" Lerch, Louis Lerch and Deprell "Jum" Lerch; and a sister, Margaret Glinkerman.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Varner Funeral Home in Sligo. The Rev. Dennis Shaw, former pastor of Reidsburg Bible Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in Cedarview Memorial Park at Strattanville, RR1.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Southern Clarion County Volunteer Ambulance Service, or the Bible Baptist Church, RR1, Sligo, Pa., 16255.
