Herman D Herzig of Buckland Dies in Colrain Mishap
Colrain May 9 - a climber in a six-man tree crew, died aged 23 at Franklin County hospital of injuries suffered in a 60-foot fall from an elm tree the crew was removing this morning, a limb he was cutting fell and snapped his climbing line causing him to fall to the ground; was employed by Weldon S Campbell of Greenfield; lived in Colrain until fall of 1957 when he moved to Buckland Center; besides his parents he leaves his wife the former Ethel Clark, a twelve-months old daughter Laurel, three brothers Donald and Norman of Colrain, and Edward of Conway, seven sisters Mrs Margaret Amidon of Framingham, Mrs Elsie Brown of East Colrain, Mrs Arlene Gretchel of Lyonsville, Mrs Christina Kingsbury of Shattuckville, and Misses Rose Mary, Barbara, and Janet at home, several nieces and nephews; funeral in charge of Johnson funeral home, burial at Branch
