Mr. Gladis was born in Starina, Slovakia. He was the son of Elias and Maria (Hriczko) Gladis of Maly Lipnik, Slovakia. He married the former Helena Dopirak in 1892 in Passaic, New Jersey. Mr. Gladis was the owner/operator of a wholesale coal business. Besides the Clifton/Passaic area Mr. Gladis also resided in Nanukte, Rockland County, New York.
Mr. Gladis was one of the original officers of St. Peter's Greek Catholic Cemetery Association which was founded in 1887. He was the association treasurer in 1910.
