Glendive, Montana: Marlys Orth, age 71, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2013 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive. Marlys was born on August 19, 1941 in Elgin, North Dakota, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Wegner) Rekow. She was raised and educated in Elgin graduating from high school with the class of 1959.
On April 22, 1961, Marlys married Wilfred Orth and to this union a daughter, Mischelle was born. Throughout Marlys' life she worked as a telephone operator and then she was a cashier for Doc and Eddy's for many years. She enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with family and friends. Seeing other people happy made Marlys happy.
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elsie Rekow; brother, Carmen Rekow and sister, Diane Rekow.
Survivors include her husband, Wilfred Orth of Glendive; daughter, Mischelle (Jeff) Boal of Rapid City, South Dakota; sisters, Corrine (Clifford) Koehler of Glen Ullin, North Dakota and Sharon (Ronald) Koenig of Elgin, North Dakota; brother, Vernon Rekow of Lower Brule, South Dakota and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor James Hageman officiating. Interment will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
