Hermann Diers was a Lutheran pastor who answered a call to ministry across Iowa for more than 40 years.Born to in Germany to Johann Jürgen Jann Landtag Diers [1851-1936] and Anna Margarethe Wilkens [1858-1917], Hermann was the tenth of their thirteen children. In 1927 he married Iowa native Viola Ager. They had four children: Herman, himself a Lutheran pastor of note, Dorothea, Anna and Arthur. Together Rev. Diers and his wife served congregations in Northwood, Greene (Vilmar) 1928-37, Andrew 1937-44, Monticello (Castle Grove) 1944-50 and Titonka (Immanuel) 1950-62. Trinity Lutheran Church brought them to Mason City in 1962, where Viola Diers served as her husband's secretary during his 11 years as visitation pastor and two years as assistant chaplain at Good Shepherd Health Center.
