Born July 2, 1913, in Sheboygan, Alex was a son of the late Alexander and Amelia Schneider Dotz. He attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School.
On Oct. 13, 1938, he was united in marriage to Hermina Kern in Sheboygan. The couple was married for 57 years before Hermina preceded him in death on July 4, 1996.
Alex co-owned, with his father-in-law, Levin Kern, the Sheboygan Falls Meat Market, which they operated for many years. When the meat market was sold, he then went to work for Piggly Wiggly and later worked for a machine shop in Sheboygan.
Mr. Dotz was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his cottage at Crystal Lake, boating, swimming, water skiing, traveling, planting trees and flowers in his garden and lived a full life of enjoyment with his family, friends and loved ones.
Alex is survived by his brother, Elmer (Doris) Dotz of Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Bernice Dotz of Solvang, Calif.; many nieces and nephews, Margaret (Paul) Reindl of Plymouth, Robert (Patricia) Dotz of Sheboygan, Sandra (Gene) Clevenger of Tomahawk, Jim (Chris) Dotz of Sheboygan Falls, Steven (Nancy) Dotz of Holman, Michael (Melissa) Dotz of Saline, Mich., Mark Dotz of Sheboygan, Kris (Joe) Lamb of Sheboygan, Tom Dotz of Evergreen, Colo., Richard (Maria) Dotz of Santa Barbara, Calif., Larry Dotz of San Francisco, Calif., Lois (Don) DeMeyer of Solvang, Calif., Susan Dotz of Las Vegas, Nev., Mary Dotz of San Hose, Calif., Kathy Belen of Solvang, Calif.; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hermina; his daughter, Judith Ann Quintana; and several brothers and sisters-in-law, Julius and Sophia Dotz, Waldemar and Beatrice Dotz and Edward Dotz.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 23, at Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. The Rev. David Stevens, associated pastor of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Monday from noon until the time of services. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
