Dr. Judith A. Quintana, 51, of Pittsburgh, Penn., formerly of Sheboygan, died Sunday, November 24, 1991, at Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, Penn.
She was born September 10, 1940, In Sheboygan, the daughter of Alexander and Hermina Kern Dotz.
Dr. Quintana was a French professor at Washington and Jefferson College (Washington, Penn.) for 15 years. She was an associate professor of French with the Isabel McKennan Laughlln Foundation and served as chairman of the W & J Department of Modem and Classical Languages. She was Instrumental in initiating Innovative teaching in modern languages. She fostered International experiences for undergraduates through Intercession courses in Paris and was one of the originators of the Freshman Forum, W & J's interdisciplinary course for freshmen.
Judith was an accomplished bassoonist and played with the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra. She also acted in numerous productions at Little Lake Theater and with the W & J Drama Society.
She graduated from Lawrence College, Appleton, Wis., received the Fullbright Scholarship to attend Sorbonne University in Paris and earned a master's degree from Middlebury College in Vermont. She also did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin, where she received her doctorate, and later taught at the University of Chicago before coming to W & J.
Judith is survived by her parents, Alexander and Hermina of Sheboygan.
Funeral services for Dr. Judith Ann Dotz Quintana will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 30, at Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. The Rev. Edwin C. Bek, pastor of St Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m., until the time of services.
