MRS. BROKENS OF ANAMOSA DIES FEB. 9
Mrs. John H. Brokens, 82, Anamosa died early Monday, Feb. 9, 1976 at the Anamosa Care Center following a lingering illness.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Goettsch Funeral home with the Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson officiating. Burial was in the Wayne cemetery near Monticello.
Pallbearers were LaVern Schoon, Marion Dirks, William Ortgies, Alvin Ortgies, Willis Kray and Gerhard Kray.
Mrs. Brokens was born on Feb. 20, 1893 at Anamosa, the daughter of Henry and Meta Steenblock Kray. She was married June 20, 1912 to John H. Brokens. They farmed in Cass township. Her husband preceded her death on April 29,1972.
She is survived by a son, Benhard Brokens, and a grandson, Leonard Brokens of Anamosa; two sisters, Matilda Schoon of Monticello and Alvina Dirks of Amber.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister and two brothers.
