Robert Kappel, 83, of Ackley, died on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday May 29th, 2013 at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before services.
Robert Kappel was born on January 22, 1930 in Ackley, Iowa to John and Anna (Oelman) Kappel. Robert worked for Farmland Foods until he retired in 1999. On June 10th, 1965, Robert was united in marriage to Beverly Thomas in Rockport, Missouri. He traveled around the area and played for dances and other events for 36 years with his band, Bob and the Country Playboys.
He is survived by his wife Beverly of Ackley; his 6 children Mike (Rose) Kappel of Iowa Falls, Linda (John) Butler of Gifford, Gale Kappel and her fiancé Todd Lindaman of Bradford, Cindy Lienen of Albert Lea, MN, Brad (Susie) Kappel of Ackley and Tammy Kappel of Ackley; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Barry; five sisters and three brothers.
