A service was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Kinsley Mortuary Chapel, Marysville, with the Rev. Gerry Sharp officiating. Kathy Pralle provided the music. Pallbearers were Ron Spier, Mike Oldehoeft, Lance Heath, Todd Crome, Kaleb Drinkgern and Curtis Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Crome, Paul Oldehoeft, Raymond Spier and Russell Spier. Burial was in Home Cemetery, Home City.
Lawrence Johnson was born Nov. 28, 1919, at Home City, the son of Otto and Rosa Schlax Johnson. He attended school at Home City.
He married Mary K. Fincham in 1943 at Manhattan. He was a farmer and a mechanic and worked for the railraod, on the state roads, and then farmed full-time.
He enjoyed John Deere tractors, playing cards and playing ball with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Johnson of the home; a son, Larry Johnson, Topeka; six daughters, Ruth Oldehoeft, Hanover, Rose Ann Spier, Clatonia, Neb., Laverne Heath, Andover, Linda Mae Crome and Mary Lee Drinkgern, Bremen, and Carla June Johnson, Clarks, Neb.; a brother, Clarence "Tody" Johnson, Home City; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Rosa Johnson; four brothers, Frank, Ed, Joe and Roy Johnson; and a granddaughter, Valerie Oldehoeft.
