ELEANOR SPENCER HUDSON, beloved wife of the late Arlie Hudson of Raymond, passed away in Raymond on Monday, July 12, 1993 at the age of 88 years.
She is the loving mother of Jim (Gertrude) of Boise, Idaho, Arlene (Gold) Harker of Raymond, John (Luting) of Edmonton, David (Gwen) of Mill Creek, Washington, Art (Jolayne) of Raymond and Richard (Sharon) of Concord, California. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; a sister, Ida Longbottom of Calgary; and a brother, Miles Spencer of Cardston.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arlie Hudson, her parents, Eleanor and John Spencer; a sister, Dora Reil; four brothers; Arthur, George, Clyde and Leo Spencer; a granddaughter, Brenda Hudson; a grandson, Rick Hudson; and a great grandson, Jeremy Holden.
Born in Magrath and educated in Magrath and Calgary, Eleanor had a long career as an elementary school teacher at LaPrairie, Leavitt, Magrath and Raymond. She was skilled with fine arts, being involved in music, leading church choirs and a community women's church group for more than 25 years and serving in the presidency of the Taylor Stake Young Women's Organization, directing musical, speech, drama and camping activities. In high school at Magrath, she was a provincial debate team winner. She was a promoter of the fine arts, starting many young people on the path of lifelong careers, and was well known for her work with choral speech at the school festivals.
After her retirement she and her husband served as L.D.S. Missionaries in Georgia and Alabama. She has been very active in genealogical research and has written biographies of several of her ancestors. Her life had been enhanced by her service to her family and community.
Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Raymond Stake Centre of Thursday, July 15, 1993 at 11:00 a.m., with Bishop Allan Williams officiating. Interment in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond, AB
