Gertrude Anne "Gretchen" Belfield, 78 of Pittsburg, KS, died at 1:47am, Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg.
She was born November 18, 1934 in St. Paul, KS the daughter of George and Nellie (Judge) Vitt.
On Sept. 6, 1958 she was united in marriage to Robert V. Belfield in Lake Geneva, WI; He preceded her in death on May 11, 2004.
Mrs. Belfield was a registered Nurse for many years, she was the Director of Nursing for Shields Adult Care Home.
She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She served her Church, family and patients.
Survivors include two daughters: Robin Carson of Pittsburg and Dawn Pointer of Lincoln, NE; two sons: Dr. James Belfield of Lake Quivera, KS and Stephen R. Belfield of Riverside, CA; a sister Helen Vitt of St. Paul, KS, four brothers: Don Vitt of St. Paul, Bernard Vitt of Tulsa, OK, Johnny and Paul Vitt both of Bartlesville, OK, seven grandchildren: Zach Wood, Alex Carson, Brady and Haylie Pointer, Christopher Belfield, and Jacob and Hannah Belfield; and a great granddaughter Zarrah Wood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Walter Vitt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Friday, June 14, 2013 at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Baldwin as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 pm, Thursday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. The family will receive friends before and after the rosary.
