SHREVEPORT, LA - Mrs. Jere Rankin Cage passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Montclair Memory Care Center after a lengthy illness. A memorial service will begin on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Osborn Funeral Home with a visitation following the service. Officiating will be The Rev. Paul Martin of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Betty was a native of Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England where she was educated then worked in support of the allied effort during World War II. She met and married her devoted husband of nearly 65 years in Berkhamsted while he served in the Army Air Corps. Her interests included antiques, travel, sailing, and reading.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rose Baxter; and husband, Jere Rankin Cage. She is survived by her sons, Rodney Cage, and his wife, Catherine, Roy Cage, and his wife, Sharon, and Kent Cage, and his wife, Kaye; her seven grandchildren, Jonathan Cage, Meredith Cage Quale, Carrie Cage Morgan, Claire Cage, Courtney Cage, Sarah Cage, and Chris Cage; and five great-grandchildren, Kavan and Andrew Morgan, Harper and Andrew Quale, and Alexandra Cage.

The family requests that memorials be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 275 Southfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71105 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Lucille Speed and the staff at Montclair with special thanks to Amanda Zoll and Renee Prudhome.
