Services held here for William Jakobs
Services for William A Jakobs, 83, were held Tuesday from First Congregation United Church of Christ with the Rev. H. I. Surls officiating. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery near Owasa and Surls and Grupe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Jakobs died Sunday at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital.
Born Sept. 19, 1895, at Latimer, William August Jakobs was the son of Ludwig and Sophie Dohrmann Jakobs. After serving with the Army during World War I, he married Huldah Westaby at Alexander June 29, 1921. They had farmed south of Iowa Falls since 1933, spending the winters at Lakeland, Fla., for the last 25 years. Mr. Jakobs was a member of senior citizens clubs at Iowa Falls and Lakeland.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mildred Fuller of St. Louis, Mo., and Vera Kocon of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a sister, Lydia Streit of Rowan. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
