Catherine "Kate" R. Krcmar, 94, a resident of Fox River Valley Gardens for 63 years, passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at her home. Kate was born Oct. 30, 1917, in Chicago. Kate moved to Fox River Valley Gardens from Chicago with her family in 1949, where she was active in the community through her years in the area. In 1960, she and her husband, George, purchased Hermann's Rest Awhile from Clara Hermann, and they ran the business until retirement. Throughout the years, she was active in village business, holding the position of Village Clerk for many years, and also was an election judge and voter registrar. Kate was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and being a senior and elder of the village, Kate was well known and loved by many. Kate was the beloved wife of the late George M., who passed away in 1981; loving mother of Wayne, Eloise (Dale) Altergott and the late Robert (Mickey) and Richard (Nancy); cherished grandmother of Mary (David) Kivi, Katy, Michael (Kimberly) and Angela (Zak) Kosiek; proud great-grandmother of Levi Kivi, Kyle and Katelyn Krcmar. The visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the memorial service at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda. Interment will be private at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
