Marie Agnes Sundbeck, age 90, of Manistee, died early Thursday morning, Sept. 12, 2013 at her home in Manistee.
She was born on June 20, 1923 in Manistee, daughter of the late Abe and Alice (Chevalier) Picardat. Marie was a graduate of Manistee High School class of 1942. Marie married Carl R. Sundbeck on Oct. 30, 1946 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee. Most of Marie's life was centered on raising and spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking and making homemade bread for them. While raising her children, she was very active with the Brownies, Cub Scouts and the PTA. Marie and Carl loved to dance or play cards on Saturday nights making Saturday's their special social night. Marie was a communicant of Guardian Angels Catholic Church of Manistee.
Marie is survived by her husband; Carl R. Sundbeck of Manistee, her daughter Ann (Jim) Makowski of Manistee and their children, Mike and Jenny Makowski of Bear Lake, Matthew and Charity Makowski of Midland, and Sarah and John Clapp of Grand Rapids, her son Dale (Susan) Sundbeck of Manistee, and their son Steve Sundbeck and his wife Julia Thompson of Arlington, Va., her daughter Janet Morrill of Manistee, and her children Dominic Morrill and his fiancée Brooke Westphal of Stevens Point, Wis., Nathan Morrill of Sault Ste. Marie and Brandon Morrill of Big Rapids. Marie's great grandchildren, Alecia Makowski (DJ Raspotnik) of Ludington, Taylor Makowski and Rachael Makowski and Devon, Xander and Brennan Selders all of Bear Lake, Kristen and Doug Card of San Diego, Calif., Megan Makowski of Midland, and Maggie Sundbeck of Arlington, Va. One brother and two sisters-in-law, James and Mary Picardat and Barbara Picardat all of Manistee. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Edward Sundbeck, Edith and Joe Fortin, Marquerite and Alden Cooper and Helen Schulte and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack Picardat, Jerome and Roberta Picardat and Alfred and Mary Picardat.
Mass from The Order of Christian funerals will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend John McCracken celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee.
