Obituary from the Plymouth Daily Democrat and Plymouth Tribune - November 5 and 11, 1909

David Zehner, born in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, on June 15, 1830, died at his home at Wolf Creek on Thursday, Nov. 4, 1909, aged 79 years. He located in Marshall County about 1850. From 1852 to 1857 he was in the milling business with his brother, William, and at the close of the period, he sold his interest in the mill to his brother, Michael Zehner. He was reared as a farmer and miller, and he remained under the parental roof until his father's death. Purchasing 160 acres of timber land, he erected a little log cabin and began the arduous task of clearing and improving his land. In 1860 he built a saw mill to facilitate his work of clearing and has ever since been engaged in the milling business. He was at one time interested in a foundry at Plymouth, but this was destroyed by fire and Mr. Zehner lost heavily in the disaster. He owned at the time of his death between 500 and 600 acres of land, and during the years of 1860, 61 and 62 he served his township of Green as trustee. He was a staunch Democrat. On the first of November, 1857, Mr. Zehner married Miss Elizabeth Voreis, who died May 17, 1872. She was the mother of seven children; John W., Thomas N., David, James L., and Eva. Two are dead. Mr. Zehner on the 14th of February, 1875, married Savannah Hubbed (sic), who died Sept. 5, 1876. On the 14th of Oct., 1877, he married Mrs. Mary J. White. Six children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Zehner---Mary C., Lawrence and Clarence L., twins, Bertha, Daisy and Adam.
