June married Joe Alaniz on Dec. 26, 1977. They moved to Thermopolis in 2000. In 2007, June converted to the Catholic faith, the tradition of Joe. She was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

When asked what kinds of work she did over the years, she took great pride in saying, "housewife." Her hobbies included playing golf, fishing, sewing, crocheting, quilting and
growing flowers. The family dogs, PeeWee and Herky, were her companions for many years.
