Joe Juventino Alaniz, 73, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 in Greybull while en route by ambulance from a Billings hospital to his home in Thermopolis.

He was born Jan. 23, 1934 in Markem, Texas, the son of Augustine and Guadeloupe Alaniz. He came to Wyoming in the late 50's where he was employed as an oilfield worker. His employers were Loffland and later Dixie Land Field with the main office in Riverton. He was a toolpusher and for a while, a consultant. He was then self-employed as a truck driver until retirement.

On Dec. 26, 1977 he married June Cunningham Shaw in Thermopolis.

A member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, June, of Thermopolis; daughter, Nanette; three brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.

Burial will follow at Monument Hill Cemetery.
