On 6 Jun 1887, Peter Amman married Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Pfeffer. They applied for a marriage license on 21 May 1887, book #2, lic. # 768 and were wed at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church by Fr. J.A. Oberhofer on 6 Jun 1887 and was witnessed by Joseph Kalvelage and Anna Dorner.

They had 2 boys:
Francis "Frank" Amman (1888-1951)
William "Bill" Amman (1890-1977)

On 17 May 1892, Peter Amman died at his home in Erie, Pennsylvania from pneumonia according to the obituary in the Erie Dispatch.

On 11 Apr, 1893, Elizabeth Pfeffer Amman married Anton Otteni, however, she died on 27 Aug 1895.

Because Anton Otteni was the only father the boys really knew, they chose to use and go by Otteni surname throughout life.
