George Gorton, 73 of Woodbourne, died at his home Saturday. Born in Ellenville, May 11, 1891, he was the son of William and Katherine Rampe Gorton. He was married in Ellenville, Nov. 21, 1920 to the former Sarah Amthor. Mr. Gorton was a retired farmer. He served as a private first class in World War I, with Company 4, of the 317th infantry. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Andrew of Grahamsville and George Jr. of Middletown; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Dean of Grahamsville; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Albert of [illegible], John of Ellenville and Eugene of Stone Ridge; a sister, Theresa Dietsch of Ellenville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Loucks Funeral Home, North Main Street, Ellenville on Wednesday with the Rev. Wilbert [illegible], pastor of St. Mark's Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville.
