Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood with the Rev. Dr. William Breen officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetry. Visitation will be Sunday with the family present from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood.
Mr. Rentschler was born August 1, 1906, south of Rock Valley, Iowa, the son of George and Elizabeth (Winterfeld) Rentschler. He attended country school through the third grade when the family moved to Le Mars, Iowa, where he graduated from high school and attended one year at Westmar College. He farmed for a while north of Inwood with his brother George.
He married Laverne Enstrom Jan. 1, 1930, in Rock Rapids, Iowa. The couple farmed north of Inwood. She died Nov. 1, 1978. He moved to Inwood in 1980, Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. in 1995, and Fellowship Village in Inwood July 10, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Norman and his wife, Connie of Inwood, and Louis C. of Edina, Minn.; a daughter, Donna Jean Rentschler of Sioux Falls; a daughter-in-law, Rosalind Kerns of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Donald; two brothers, Ernest and George; and five sisters, Rose Rentschler, Cora Ahrendt, Laura Dominick, Bertha Weber, and Lillian Sheeler.
