LE MARS, Iowa—Laura Dominick, 91, Grand Island, Neb., a former LeMars resident, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 1994, at Park Place Nursing Home in Grand Island.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, ELCA, with the Rev. David Kramer officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 7-8 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
Mrs. Dominick was born April 14, 1903, in rural Sioux County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Caroline (Winterfeld) Rentschler. She attended rural Sioux County schools and was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in rural Rock Valley. She attended normal training at Samaritan Hospital in Sioux City where she graduated as a registered nurse. She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital and also did private nursing. She married Walter S. Dominick Oct. 19, 1929, in Merrill, Iowa. They farmed near Struble for several years. He died Sept. 3, 1985. She has lived in the Grand Island area since 1980.
Mrs. Dominick was a past member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the ELCA Women.
Survivors include a son, Eugene and his wife, Audrey, of Grand Island; a daughter, Joan and her husband, Ronald Matzke, of Olympia, Wash.; a brother, Louis Rentschler of Inwood, Iowa; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Ernest and George; four sisters, Rose Rentschler, Lillian Sheeler, Cora Ahrendt, and Bertha Weber.
