Charles and Theresa (nee Zerler/Zerla) of Bulgaria were married in 1903. They left Park Falls, Minnesota for Canada in 1905 when news came that the Government was selling homestead land for $10.00 per 160 acres. He brought his wife Theresa and one child, Mary who was born in Greenbush, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.
Charles and Theresa first moved to Elfros,SK where they bought a farm and tried to make a go of the land for eight years. Over the years the family fought with low lands and frost, hence Charles was never able to produce a crop which forced the family to move to Kelvington, SK. While in Elfros George, Raymond and Irvin were born.
In 1913 the family settled in the Kelvington area of Farmingdale, SK. Over the following years Edward, John, Albert and Frank were born.
