Former Fremont resident Arthur H. Schneekloth, 93, of Blair, died Aug. 5, 2001, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the First Lutheran Church in Fremont, with the Rev. Paul Erdal and Rev. Anjanette Rist officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.

Arthur H. Schneekloth was born April 12, 1908, in rural Douglas County on a farm one mile east of Bennington to Henry and Sophia (Luschen) Schneekloth. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church of Bennington on July 12, 1908, and confirmed there on April 1, 1923. He attended Bennington Public Schools through the 10th grade.

On March 12, 1932, he was married to Fern l. Paulsen in her parents' home in Bennington.

Mr. Schneekloth farmed five miles south of Bennington in Douglas County, and then moved to Washington County in 1940. He left farming in 1941, and the family lived in Richmond, Calif., where he was a welder and maintenance forman in a machine shop. In 1945, the family moved back to the farm in Washington County. He retired in 1973, and moved to Fremont.

He was the recipient of the Governor's Conservation Citation and the Papio Soil and Water Conservation award in 1973.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont, and the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, Fern, a daughter, Joyce Graybill of Blair, son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Loris Schneekloth of Oakland, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Alma Cohrs of Elkhorn.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, and five sisters.

Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
