In 1785 named as private in Class 2 of the 8th Company (Peter Middagh, Capt.) of Militia in the 5th Battalion of Northampton Company. HIs brother in law, Robert Simanton was in the same class. In return April 1794, by the Bridget Inspector , Peter is designated as Ensign, or color bearer in the 4th Company in the 4th Company, Capt. Jas. Williamson and of the 8th Regiment, commanded by Lt.
